Ha Tinh is endowed by nature with abundant and diverse resources, creating exceptionally sustainable room for the development of industrial, agricultural and tourism projects.
1. Abundant and diverse land resources
The province has a total natural land area of 599,445 hectares, comprising nine different soil groups. Of these, the red-yellow soil group accounts for the largest share (51.6%); formed on clay shale with a thick and extremely fertile soil layer, it offers enormous potential for planning long-term industrial crop areas and high-technology agricultural projects. The alluvial soil group, accounting for 17.73%, provides a favourable basis for intensive food-crop cultivation and large-scale commercial organic agricultural production.
2. Mineral resources with rich reserves
Ha Tinh possesses 91 mines and mineral occurrences of high potential. Particularly outstanding is the Thach Khe iron ore mine, with estimated reserves of about 544 million tonnes – the largest in South-East Asia. In addition, the coastal titanium mine has reserves of approximately 4.6 million tonnes, accounting for more than one third of the country’s total reserves. The province is also home to numerous deposits of tin, granite and ceramic clay of high economic and export value.
3. Invaluable forest resources and biodiversity
Forest area is abundant, with forest cover ranging from 45% to more than 52% of the province’s natural area. Ha Tinh has two of the country’s most valuable biodiversity centres: Vu Quang National Park – a rare primeval forest with distinctively rugged terrain, possessing diverse vegetation cover and many rare and precious flora and fauna species; and Ke Go Nature Reserve – home to hundreds of rare bird and animal species listed in the Red Book.

4. Plentiful water and hot mineral water resources
The province has a dense system of rivers and reservoirs, comprising 348 reservoirs with a total capacity of over 1.57 billion m³ of water (or 266 reservoirs with a capacity of over 600 million m³ according to statistics prior to the administrative merger). The multi-purpose Ngan Truoi – Cam Trang irrigation works, with a huge reservoir capacity of 780 million m³, ensures an abundant and stable water supply for all industrial production activities and for people’s daily life. In particular, Ha Tinh possesses the Son Kim hot mineral water source (Huong Son), which springs naturally from underground with a temperature reaching 150°C at a depth of 50 metres (75°C at the surface) and meets high-end therapeutic and wellness quality standards.
5. Extensive marine resources and fishing grounds
With a 137 km coastline and four large river mouths, the province has extensive fishing grounds with abundant seafood reserves, estimated at 86,000 tonnes. The sea off Ha Tinh is home to more than 267 fish species, while the inshore waters are rich in valuable seafood such as squid and shrimp, providing strong support for high-technology aquaculture and seafood processing value chains serving export.
